Howell Old West Cartridge Conversion Cylinder for 1851 & 1861 Pietta 38 Long Colt & 38 Spcl (.375" Groove)**Attention: Revolvers made prior to 2002 may need to have the cylinder fitted by a gunsmith**

The Howell Arms cartridge conversion for the Pietta 1851 or 1861 Navy revolver and converts it to fire the .38 Long Colt or our 38 Special cartridge loaded with bore diameter hollow base bullets or groove diameter heeled bullets. You can also use 38 Special Hollow Based Wadcutter ammunition. The cyinders are rated "For Black Powder or Equivalent Loads Only", which includes the current Cowboy Loads on the market. Naval Battle scene engraving found on the original cylinder is optional. For engraved cylinder see item# RD1851PE. To overcome the larger bore of the original barrel, it is recommended that you use either hollow based bullets or heeled type bullets. (If, after installation, you are unsure of the fit, please take your revolver to a competent gunsmigh to make sure you have the cylinder installed correctly.)
